Just for the Record

This second book by Geri Halliwell is just as entertaining as her first (If Only). It's not a sequel (there is a brief recap of some events from her first book) but you you don't have to read these in chronological order. It's packed with photos (some professional, some candid) and clips of her personal diaries. Geri continues to be brutally honest about her career, her eating disorders, fame and everything that makes up her life. This is a fantastic book for any fan looking to add to their collection.

Editorial Review :: Geri Halliwell has been written about more than almost any other pop artist. But how much of it is true? This glorious mix of over 100 exclusive photographs and an honest and heartfelt text was one of the biggest publishing events of 2002. Now, in this new mass-market format, Just for the Record will do it all over again in 2003.

With over 70,000 words of text, Geri’s story is revealing, frank, brutally honest and, at times, shocking. The book reveals the real story of her life over the last five years. But it is Geri’s telling of her personal battle to overcome the eating disorders that have plagued her since childhood which really makes her book stand apart. There has never been a celebrity book like it when it comes to explaining the stark reality of weight obsession.

Schizophonic

I got "Schizophonic" by Geri Halliwell a few years ago after an internet friend told me it was good (this person liked this album so much they stockpiled copies of it). For the first few years I thought it was good as well. Now I feel this album is really, really bad and dumb all over. Albums like this sink or swim based on the quality of the vocals and the songs. "Schizophonic" fails on both of these counts. For starters, it was apparent to me that Halliwell can't sing. In addition, the songs are just plain bad (except for "Look at me", "Lift Me Up", and "Walkaway", which are barely worth listening to). The worst songs here are "Mi Chico Latino", "You're in a Bubble", and "Let Me Love You". Now this album is in the library where it belongs, and since then I take album recommendations with a grain of salt.

Editorial Review :: While hardly a masterpiece on the order of "Say You'll Be There," the former Ginger Spice's step into the solo arena does an acceptable job of refashioning her into a "grownup" diva. Generally underdeveloped material doesn't help, but the thin-voiced Halliwell acquits herself well enough on some pop-funk numbers and when tweaking the sort of '60s high camp of which Robbie Williams has been so fond. --Rickey Wright

If Only

I bought this book after seeing a spice girls documentary. Even though I wasn't a big fan of the Spice Girls I always found Geri likable and decided to read her book.
The book is awesome. She takes you from her childhood up until she left the band. She and her friends reminded me of my friends and I. The book is very frank, down to earth and fun. I highly recommend reading this one and then following it up with her second book, Just for the Record. The second one starts right where this ones leaves off.
A great fun interesting read. This Girls is great!

Editorial Review :: Like many starstruck girls, Geri Halliwell grew up with one ambition. She wanted to be famous. She had the drive, the energy, the fierce determination to succeed. If only she could get that one lucky break - that one chance - she'd prove to all the doubters that she could make it, and make it big. But as Geri discovered, the road to fame can be a rocky one. Often broke and desperately lonely, her life became an endless round of failed auditions and dead-end jobs. Even her stint as a glamour model and her role as a game show host in Turkey failed to gain her a foothold on the ladder to fame. Until one day, almost reluctantly, she answered an ad in "The Stage". Someone was looking for candidates to form an all-girl band. The rest is history. As Ginger Spice, Geri's stage presence was formidable, her outfits legendary. The Spice Girls enjoyed a succession of number one hits, two successful albums and a box office hit movie. But Geri wanted her feet back on the ground. It was time to walk away, to find out who she was when she wasn't Ginger Spice. Amidst a blaze of media speculation Geri left the Spice Girls in May 1998. Now focusing on her solo career, and with a number one hit single and bestselling album already to her credit, Geri also works tirelessly for charities such as the UN's Breast Cancer Care campaign and Comic Relief. At its heart "If Only" is about fame and the rollercoaster journey one young girl took from obscurity to the world of her dreams. Believing fame would provide the answer to life's problems, she came to understand that the real solutions lie elsewhere.

Geri Yoga With Katy Appleton

I have done Yoga before, but not steadily, and have several other DVD's on this subject. This one is my favorite. Itis a very relaxing atmosphere, (yes, Geri always has something to add), but who doesn't know someone like that? It's always very positive and what people are thinking anyway, but just don't have that sweet blunt way that she does. I guess if you're looking for a very serious workout, that's different, but I felt that I was in a room working out with a bunch of friends. Kasy Appleton always seems so concerned that noone does more than they should for their body, and keeps mentioning to slow down and follow your body's lead. When I first picked this DVD up, I didn't know that Geri was a Spice Girl', or I wouldn't have taken it seriously, but I'm glad that I did. She's a riot, and has one of those personalities that can't just 'zip it', (like me), that's what makes it so fun, to break up the monotony, and her perfect accent is so funny. She's gorgeous, but doesn't act like it at all, (which makes me like her even more)! I have John Lee, and love his very serious workouts, but this is so refreshing, I live in the country and feel like when I put the DVD in the recorder, it's time to have fun with real friends! Thanks Geri and Katy, and I'm so glad that I bought your two DVD set. I hope you come out with more, you make it all so fun!

Editorial Review :: Easy to follow workouts, including both basic and intermediate yoga.
