Catch the Moon
We were huge Elizabeth Mitchell fans when we got this. And as someone who "liked" Lisa Loeb before, I love her more on this album. Her voice seems less "sticky sweet" than on her pop songs I've heard. It is a mellow cd, but children need to be exposed to and enjoy mellow music too! Elizabeth Mitchell's music is very appealing to us as parents who want to expose our children to "real" music with a nod to American music's roots...including the other cultures that have influenced it...and that is more simple, without the silliness and bells and whistles. They have their place I suppose...but this kind of music is easier for parents to listen to, and exposes children to music that is wonderful and has them in mind...but hasn't been made super silly and super hyper for a particular audience that some childrens artists think can only appreciate that kind of music.
The story inside the liner notes is sweet. It is short, but it is loving and a beautiful tribute to friendship and love. And the videos! My kids can't get enough of those two videos! It is good to know ahead you're only getting two songs, which is too bad...but they are delightful performances of the title track and a more 'spirited' song. Again, Mitchell and Loeb are dressed with toned downed earth colors..nothing flashy to distract from the *music*. For me it was a special treat because Elizabeth plays her tambourine, and I had just purchased two "real" tambourines for my kids, to add to their collection of small, colorful "play" tambourines, made for kids.

Stay
At this price, buy it!!! One song alone it worth the price. If I could only use one word to describe this recording it would be "honest". I usually play it when I am in a more introspective mood. The vocals have a piercing integrity. Seems wrong to be selling this low. Sort of sad in a way.

Editorial Review :: A dozen years after exploding onto the scene with "Stay (I Missed You)" from the Gen-X movie classic Reality Bites, Lisa Loeb--one of the most recognizable musical artists of the last decade--premieres not only her first "best of" collection but her own unscripted TV series. With E! Entertainment Television's #1 Single debuting in January, The Very Best of Lisa Loeb was released January 24, 2006. Heard on both is "Single Me Out," the theme song to the TV series.Featuring 18 selections, The Very Best of Lisa Loeb includes all of her hits from five albums from 1995 to 2004, from the orchestral "Furious Rose" to the rocking "Fools Like Me" to the stripped-down acoustic "Sandalwood," as well as the most memorable tracks from her career to date. The literary Loeb also penned the album's liner notes. After growing up in Dallas, this modern-day Mary Tyler Moore enrolled at Brown University and formed a duo with her roommate. After graduating, she moved to New York and began playing the New York City club circuit to sell-out crowds all over downtown, backed by her group Nine Stories. Friend/fan Ethan Hawke brought her to the attention of Ben Stiller, who was starring in and directing Reality Bites. He added "Stay (I Missed You)" to the soundtrack and the single hit #1. Loeb became the first unsigned artist to ever reach the top spot. "Stay (I Missed You)" was certified gold and earned Loeb a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group, the U.K.'s prestigious Brit Award for Best International Newcomer, and a record deal with Geffen. Her debut album, 1995's Tails, went gold and Top 30 and spun off the Top 20 hit "Do You Sleep?," "Waiting For Wednesday," "Taffy" and "Sandalwood." "Stay (I Missed You)" was also reprised. Known for her sexy-and-smart girl-next-door persona, accented by her trademark cat-eyed glasses, Loeb created music that touched a new generation. She toured America, opened for Lyle Lovett and appeared at the first-ever Lilith Fair, a celebration of female artists featuring Sarah McLachlan, Patti Smith, Aimee Mann, Emmylou Harris, Tori Amos and others.1997's Grammy-nominated Firecracker yielded the Top 20 "I Do," "Truthfully," "Let's Forget About It," "Falling In Love" and "How," which debuted on the soundtrack to the summer blockbuster Twister. That year she guested on the Counting Crows' European tour and also starred at the second Lilith Fair. From 2002's A&M album Cake and Pie, The Very Best of Lisa Loeb culls "Bring Me Up" and "Underdog." That same year a revamped indie version of the album, titled Hello Lisa, showcased "What Am I Supposed to Say." 2004's Rounder disc The Way It Really Is included "Fools Like Me."Today, with a "best of" collection, starring in #1 Single (about looking for love in the 21st century), touring, and working on a new album, Lisa Loeb proves she is here to stay.

Tails
I bought this for the song "stay". I love the whole album. It is really good calm CD.
Editorial Review :: Though Tails was her debut album, Loeb had already hit the stratosphere of the pop charts a year earlier with "Stay," a monster hit from the soundtrack of the film Reality Bites. "Stay" is also included on Tails, but the other 12 tracks demonstrate Loeb had more than one good song in her, even if none of them found similar success on the singles chart. Loeb's knack for infectious, buoyant pop shines through on such instantly catchy tunes as "Snow Day," "Rose-Colored Time" and "Waiting for Wednesday"; quieter, darker numbers such as "Hurricane," "Alone" and "Lisa Listen" reveal a more reflective side; and "Taffy" shows she's occasionally willing to let loose and rock as well. --Peter Blackstock

Firecracker
A fine singer-songwriter with a sweet, candy-coated voice that belies the 29 years old that she was when she made this album, Lisa Loeb first hit big with the song "Stay" from her 1995 album "Tails," and established herself as a talented and heartfelt lyricist. This album, in my opinion, is best carried by songs like "I Do" and "Falling In Love," which have sunny guitars and her most cheerful, upbeat singing, but even dark, brooding selections like "Furious Rose" and "Jake," are beautifully written and sang with sincere, lilting angst.
