As a habit, any movie, actor, artist, product that is overhyped, I automatically avoid. I get annoyed when someone/something is shoved down my throat and my reaction is to avoid at all costs. I didn't start listening to Taylor's music until maybe two months ago? Surprisingly, it's not all bad. First things first. You have to accept that while she can keep a tune, her voice is not that strong. She has limited range and she sounds very young. With the way all the kids flock to her, I assumed that she was their age (16). I was shocked to find out she's older than that. I'm not sure if her voice will mature as she gets older, but for her sake I hope it does. Prime example is on 'Tim McGraw,' whomever the male voice is, his sound is much fuller and mature than hers. So it makes her sound light-voiced (yes, I made that up). I would imagine that the older she gets, she may end up competing with Carrie, Miranda, Laura, etc for the same fans. She really isn't in the same class as them when it comes to vocals. Don't get me wrong, her music is easy listening, but there's no prowess, no umph. I bought her Soho live album from itunes, and I really can't listen to it often bc you can definitely see the difference btwn her studio voice and her actual voice.

Secondly, the content of the songs are quite young (kinda hard not to pick that up) which is fine for her first album. Simple pop, in my opinion, and not really country. I would never put myself up as a country expert, but she has a very pop sound. My favorite song is Teardrops on My Guitar and that's "probably" because it doesn't sound *that* young.

All in all, not a bad album. Worth the hype? Well, I don't think so, but it's easy listening in the car or at work.

Editorial Review :: Taylor Swift has been enhanced by the addition of 3 brand new tracks ("I'm Only Me When I'm With You", "Invisible", "A Perfectly Good Heart") and a pop version of the hit single "Teardrops On My Guitar"

....However, there is something about this song that doesn't feel completely like a hit. I don't know what it is really. And part of the reason this song is probably selling so well is because we haven't had any new Taylor Swift in almost a full year since the debut of 5 new songs and an acoustic version of 'Forever & Always' on 2009's Fearless (Platinum Edition, CD & DVD).

I'm not saying this song is bad. I kinda like it and I think the video isn't bad, but it doesn't really have that special something like say 'Our Song', 'Love Story' or even my favorite song 'The Best Day' has.

It's kind of ho hum.

While this may come off as a negative review, it doesn't come from a hateful place - I actually love Taylor Swift and a lot of her music, and she's one of the few females that hasn't resorted to drastic measures or sexiness to sell her records. She just simply remains humble and relatable, sings (and thankfully) writes her own songs.

In fact, me getting Speak Now isn't totally out of the question just because I don't think this song is the bee's knees. I loved 2008's Fearless which was my first Taylor Swift album and liked most of her singles from her first album too.

So I'm saying I'm a fan for sure, and this song does sound like some of her songs of the past but it just doesn't blow me away.

Sorry if some of you end up hating this. I'm just stating my piece.

3.5 stars.

I purchased the original Fearless album when it was first released,so I had already heard the songs on the CD.Once the Platinum Edition was released,I purchased it and it came with extra songs and DVD content. It was well worth the money to purchase this album again especially if you are a die-hard fan of Taylor Swift as I am!

Editorial Review :: Fearless is the 2008 sophomore album from Taylor Swift, the young Country singer/songwriter who charmed the hearts and charts of America beginning with her debut single 'Tim McGraw'. Her triple-platinum self-titled debut release has scanned over 3.4 million units and spent more weeks at #1 than any other Country album this year: 24 weeks! Taylor is the only Country female artist to have five Top 10 singles from a debut album and the only Country female vocalist this decade to reach the Top 5 on Billboard's Hot 100 Chart. Needless to say, she's a sensation that has only just begun to show what she is capable of. 13 tracks including the single 'Love Story' and 'Change', first heard during the 2008 Summer Olympics. --This text refers to the Audio CD edition.
